The Polyclinic of Specialties in Durrës has reopened after a comprehensive restoration, with updated facilities and the latest medical equipment.
Albana Koçiu, Minister of Health and Social Protection, and Emiriana Sako, Mayor of Durrës, inspected the new facilities of the Polyclinic. The Polyclinic is the main outpatient health care provider in the Durrës district.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the state budget have made an investment that will benefit about 177,950 inhabitants. This investment has made it possible to provide modern facilities, enlarged waiting areas, and the latest medical equipment to provide prompt, high-quality services in 17 specialties and laboratory tests.
“Both 25,000 residents of Shijak and 156,000 residents of Durrës can now access the services of the Polyclinic of Specialties in Durrës. The state budget provided all the funds for this investment. The physical infrastructure and equipment have been completely restored and the latest technology has been installed,” Koçiu said.
She emphasized that the quality of services provided to citizens will be significantly improved by the new medical equipment.
“There are 17 specialties or specialists who provide services at the Durrës Polyclinic, which now provides additional support to the hospital, because all the diagnoses that can be performed at this polyclinic help to reduce waiting times for citizens who receive services at the Durrës Hospital, and not only there,” the Health Minister said.
Koçiu pointed out that the addition of a new digital cabinet to expand imaging services and the cabinet for micro-invasive surgical procedures are two advances in this polyclinic that have drastically changed the ultrasound cabinet.
Digital radiography has been introduced for the first time at the Polyclinic of Specialties, making it the second digital facility in Durrës, after the Radiology Department at Durrës Regional Hospital. This enables both real-time teleconsultations and high-quality services.
In addition to the 1,600 square meters of completely renovated space, there are additional cabinets for internal medicine, dermatology, hematology and allergy. All services are included, including critical services for ophthalmology, neurology, cardiology and microsurgery. Air conditioning, elevators and ramps for people with disabilities – all regulations have been met,” said Albana Koçiu, Minister of Health and Social Protection.
